Movie Obsession Website

For week5 of my web marketing class our midterm was to create a movie obsession website. Each classmate picked a different theme. The whole objective of creating these websites was to reflect what we the students learned from our assigned reading “Success Secrets Of The online marketing Superstars” by Mitch Meyerson. I will be reviewing each of our movie obsession websites into greater detail, in ranking order from best to worst.

1. The reason I picked Kylee Parkers http://fagabeefee.com/browse-movies-alphabetically/ website first was because of the content. Kylee brought the most content to the table and displayed it very well. The one thing I liked most about Kylee’s website was the movie quiz on the home page. I feel it draws the user in and keeps them moving through the site. The animated banner that he plans to add to his site is very intriguing. There isn’t very much page styling but he makes up for it with his extensive content.

2. The reason I picked Jose Lopez’s http://joserosariolopez.com/kungfu/ website second was for the excellent design. The functionality wasn’t there or the content, but that first page showed a lot of promise. The website is very clean and organized, and the color scheme really enhances the content. One thing that I would have liked to see was a logo or some type of banner at the top of the page. When I first come to page I don’t really know what going on, I don’t know that it’s a kung-fu movie obsession website. That’s one thing that I think he could have expressed a little more.

3. The reason I picked my site http://VampFanSite.com third was not because I’m modest or that I did a terrible job. Maybe because I know where all the little flaws are and how they stick in my mind like a splinter. I spent several weeks planning and designing vampfansite.com. Once I decided on a name for the movie obsession website I checked to see if that domain name was available, which obviously it was. I then had to make sure that the user name VampFanSite was available on Gmail, Facebook, MySpace, Hotmail, Twitter, Digg, & Vimeo. I spent the second most of my time on myspace and facebook trying to interact with other vampire fans. I was trying to build a relationship with my users, as described in the our class book. Maria Veloso once wrote “Seducing your Web visitors is like a dance, wherein you lead and they follow. I had all these great ideas and high expectations that kind of just floated further away each day as the deadline grew near. For the little amount of time and the content I produced, I think overall the site came out alright.

4. The reason I picked Ardie Organs site http://manfilms.hunterunknown.com/ fourth was because I wasn’t really excited about the fact that website was geared to manly movies. I know that there are plenty of men out there that enjoy action movies, but when I hear the term “manly movies” I think of some type of homo erotica. Don’t get me wrong! The whole site turned out awesome, and I think that it really reflected a lot of the things that we learned from class. The whole site gives off this whole web 2.0 feel that really works. The content is simple and gets straight to the point. One of the things I liked most about the site was the manly “Word of the Day” and how it changes every time you refresh the page.
